March of the Penguins: 9/11 Day of Service

The 9/11 Day of Service was created to support the federally established and recognized September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance. In remembrance of the losses sustained on 9/11 and in celebration of our Centennial and the camaraderie that our sisterhood brings Theta Phi Alpha is supporting this initiative and encourages participation by chapters, associations, and individuals in a way they choose. Visit www.911dayofservice.org for more information on the National Event.

To register and publicize your own event with Theta Phi Alpha visit http://thetaphialpha.celect.org/centennial-convention-2012 and fill out a March of the Penguins Registration Form. The forms will be used to compile a list of events on our website for any sister to participate or even spark an idea for another group of sisters. Events do not have to occur on 9/11, close to the date and in support of the cause is most important so get a group of sisters together to unite us as a Fraternity in giving our thanks and paying our respects by giving back.

    Membership Drive Ends September!

There continues to be too many “missing links” in our chain of membership as our Centennial Celebration approaches. Help Theta Phi Alpha reconnect with our lost sisters and you could win! Visit Membership Drive Contest Rules for more information – contest ends September 30, 2011.

    New England College Colony Closes

It is with great remorse that Theta Phi Alpha announces the closure of the New England College Colony in Henniker, NH due to inability to recruit enough women to petition for establishment. Theta Phi Alpha has been given “first right of refusal” if the campus ever wishes to open for extension in the future. The women of the colony have been offered the opportunity to be initiated as alumnae if they wish to accept.

You Are Always A Theta Phi

When we were initiated, we became a member of Theta Phi Alpha for our lifetime. Whether we are north or south, east or west, or near or far from our sisters, what we do and say represents Theta Phi Alpha. And, what we say about Theta Phi Alpha affects all of our sisters, even those we have never met. In this day and age of social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc) it's good to keep in mind that while it only takes a second to post, what we are posting affects how others view us as individuals and all of our Theta Phi Alpha sisters. What image do you want others to have about Theta Phi Alpha? Let's help each other to make Theta Phi Alpha sparkle!

Siena Medalist for the 2012 Convention

The Board of Trustees is working hard to secure and extra special Siena Medalist for our 2012 Convention and have chosen a great woman for this award. She has blossomed in the aftermath of her personal tragedy and her foundation helps other victims survive too. Typically the Siena Medalist receives a $1000 honorarium to her Foundation from the Theta Phi Alpha Foundation. Through research the Board of Trustees has found that famous people who have other speaking engagements and commitments require a larger honorarium that our normal $1,000. For this particular woman we would like to give a $5,000 donation to her Foundation and need donations from sisters to make this happen. Currently we have $3400 of the needed $5000. If you are interested in making a tax deductable donation in any amount to the Theta Phi Alpha Foundation to help us reach our goal please contact Kristin Henkenius, Board of Trustees Chairman, at (contact information redacted--contact National Office). Thank you for your help! We look forward to announcing our 2012 Siena Medalist soon.
